The idea is to rework the business concept ‘disruptive innovation’ and frame interactions between the fields of business and digital art/activism in new ways. Digital art and activist practices (building on concepts such as ‘free software’, ‘peer2peer’ and ‘copy (far) left’) offer alternative ways of network organisation, collaboration, and information sharing. In this, they also present an opportunity to re-examine assumptions about how we perceive resources and methods for innovation – and even the role and place of business in society. The investigation will bring together researchers within both digital aesthetics and business, as well as practitioners within the new media industry.
