SLSA 2024 Keynote by Professor Jussi Parikka
DARC director, professor Jussi Parikka has been invited to give a keynote at the prestigious Society for Literature, Science, and the Arts (SLSA) annual conference 2024 that takes place 7th to 10th of November in Dallas, Texas.
Parikka's talk is about environmental aesthetics and ecomedia through two case studies: vegetal surfaces (referring to his recent co-authored book, Living Surfaces) and thermopolitics of coldness through a new video essay, also co-authored with Abelardo Gil-Fournier. The sound design is done by María Andueza Olmedo. Both of the case studies relate to his long-standing research work on architectures of environmental data and spatial politics of how we understand the multiple scales of "climate" as a material formation, including through instruments of knowledge.
The theme of the conference is Climate Diasporas. More info about SLSA and this year's event at: https://litsciarts.org/slsa24/
