Prestigious award for sound artist Marie Koldkjær Højlund
DARC affiliated composer, sound artist, and associate professor in Sound Studies Marie Koldkjær Højlund (aka Kh Marie) has been awarded the prestigious Carl Nielsen og Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen honorary fellowship for her artistic work.
While she is known for her site-specific listening practices, Marie Koldkjær Højlund (aka Kh Marie) emphasizes the broad spectrum of artistic curiosity that underpins her methods and work: “I often come across the idea of that as an artist you have to take the straight and narrow path towards a particular goal. My path, or rather, my paths have always looked multi-tracked, collective and perhaps even erratic. I have tried to act, create and do a lot with others because I have felt that this is where I feel most alive. That's why I was so moved when I was I got the call that it was the breadth and diversity of my work that was the reason why I received this award.”
The fellowship is the largest honorary award given to Danish artists.
