DARC Director, professor Jussi Parikka has been invited as the inaugural Visiting Professor at UC Riverside in California. Hosted by the UCR's Center for Ideas and Society, the visit in January will coincide with the Digital Capture: Southern California and the Pixel-Based Image World -exhibition at the UCR ARTS California Museum of Photography and Culver Center of the Arts who organize the Operativity and Digital Capture -symposium. Parikka will also participate in a book discussion on his latest book, Living Surfaces: Images, Plants, and Environments of Media (co-authored with Abelardo Gil-Fournier).

In addition, during the trip Parikka will give other talks including at Stanford University where he will talk on January 7^th on "the environmental data stack", work that stems from the project Design and Aesthetics for Environmental Data.
